Steven Sorrell - Scultor

Born in New York in 1946, Steven Sorrell is an up and coming artist currently living and working in Livingston, New Jersey.  Sorrell comes from a background in Fine Arts where he studied at New York City’s School of Visual Arts and earned his BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art.  Sorrell is a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served in the United States Air Force.

Sorrell has been creating art for over 40 years as a commercial artist, photographer, and manufacturer of displays.  In 1988, Sorrell engineered and patented the award winning design of the Mini Slat Wall System, which has inspired some of his recent Abstract Paintings and Optical Art.  Sorrell has painted over 70 abstract impressionistic pieces in multiple media, but is focusing on his Outdoor Optical and Levitation Art.

Sorrell explained that these outdoor pieces are full-scale concept models and intends to build some of them in steel after the summer.  He would like to find a gallery, outdoor venue, or buyer interested in exhibiting or purchasing his art.  His unique style and colors open another dimension in the world of art.  The spectator becomes involved with the piece as the illusion is viewed from several angles.
